Pressed Tin MirrorThe Mirror in Interior Design

In the following article, the mirror is viewed as something practical. There’s also obviously a decorative purpose to the mirror. But sometimes these points may be forgotten.

The mirror is function:

Suppose there’s a small space e.g. a small-sized toilet. It’s used by the man for shaving for instance, to wash teeth. However, when a bit is really obviously functional as the mirror, there are strategies to make the mirror even more decorative. I am saying here that somehow, it’s simpler to make something so practical as the mirror in this toilet setting into something decorative. You can aim to get a mirror with some element of ornamentation or you could choose to get a certain type of glass to the mirror.

However, when a mirror is really obviously practical, you can add mirrors which are more decorative in aim. You can have for instance, mirrors at the foot level. You can have mirrors which only show the stomach level.

From the living space, a lot of instances the mirror is place above the fireplace and if you consider it, there appears to be something decorative about it. It’s decorative in the sense that the mirror appears to be the major decoration. It’s a fundamental piece of decorative furniture and even though its function is clear, decoration appears to be the primary purpose. If the major reason is decorative, then you can add to the inside by employing other mirrors in a more practical setting and showing up the decorative aim of the central mirror above the fireplace. Again within this living room setting, you can display up the performance and decorativeness of the mirror object by adding mirrors at foot flat along one of the walls.

Another inside design idea is to set a folding mirror in the corner. . A kind of triptych of mirrors which fold inwards… Another idea is to get a mirror on one wall continuing in the additional walls; Different effects may be used- e.g. two long rectangular cushions of equal size at the corners of each wall…or else the cushions do not have to be the same size at all. The mirror then is function and decoration. Think about the mirror as distance as a thing that creates distance.

This is a famous intention of a mirror. When you have a large space e.g. a hall you can use mirrors in different ways to produce more space and you’ll be able to aim for this effect in tiny spaces like an ordinary living space. Then the mirror may be used in such a way as to create the inside. This can be achieved when you can find mirrors combined a whole wall. There may be constant mirrors along a wall or just long vertical or vertical rectangles of mirrors. You may take a mirror, then background then a mirror again. If the area is square, the corners of the space should have some layout component. The corners of the rooms are in which the walls ‘float’ and inside design effects may be used to highlight this area. The mirrors highlight in some way the fundamental space however, the side corners may also be highlighted through items e.g. lampshades…

The mirror then is distance…and it’s function. . And a great interior design idea is to examine the mirror in a living area. If the mirror is all above the fireplace, then ask why it’s there. Is it for decoration or function or a different motive or probably a mixture of all three. In a living space, you might be unintentionally using the mirror as a fundamental decorative object but you are not bringing out the complete effect. This might be on account of the mirror itself or overall bad interior layout planning to your room. In interior design, the intention of the space is an important idea. The question of having a certain purpose to your room appears when you are looking at your space and its distance. The mirror must have a particular purpose and this purpose could be drawn out through the way the mirror or mirrors merges with the color tones in the space as well as the overall distance and additional furniture of the room.
